Kinesiology students win sports medicine quiz bowl competition RELEASED: Oct. 15, 2009 EAU CLAIRE — A team made up of three senior University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire kinesiology majors won the Quiz Bowl competition during the Northland Chapter American College of Sports Medicine's annual fall meeting Oct. 8-9 at Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. The team included Darrel Swanson, Mason; Jessica Ransom, Big Bend; and Anne Kapping, River Falls. The UW-Eau Claire team outscored 11 other teams from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. The Quiz Bowl, patterned after the popular game "Jeopardy," involved questions of increasing difficulty and dollar value in such areas as anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, cardiovascular dynamics, exercise testing and prescriptions. The UW-Eau Claire team received a traveling trophy, a trophy to keep and a trip to the national ACSM meeting June 2-5 in Baltimore, Md., where they will compete in a national Quiz Bowl competition against other regional chapter winners. In 2007 a team from UW-Eau Claire also represented the Northland chapter at the national competition.
