Right-Wing Extremism in Frontier Regions: The French National Front and the Crisis of Alsatian Identity

Abstract

This working paper examines how the patriotic and conservative sentiments in the border region of Alsace-Lorraine, between France and Germany, has been used to the advantage of the French Front National party. This examination is then paralleled with the trend of other extreme right groups developing in border territories across Europe.
