Abstract: James Skiles talks about his early education in St. Louis, Missouri, his continued education at Washington University and Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, doctoral work at UW in Electrical Engineering, his decision to teach at UW in the College of Engineering, his work on the Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage project, Electric Utilities Research Foundation, Computer Instrumentation and Control Laboratory, and his consultation work and eventual retirement.
