Abstract

Description

In her 2011 interview with Troy Reeves, Hilary Virtanen describes her participation in protests over the Budget Repair Bill proposed by Governor Scott Walker in early 2011. Virtanen recounts her experiences at the Capitol on an almost daily basis in February and March as a member of the UW-Madison Teaching Assistance Association. Virtanen also talked about her life growing up in Michigan and Wyoming, her other graduate work at Indiana University, and her current job at Findlandia University in Hancock, Michigan. This interview was conducted for inclusion into UW-Madison oral history collection, specifically within the Capitol Protests 2011 project.
