This report provides racial/ethnicity and gender data on apprentices by construction trade joint apprenticeship committee, based on data from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards. Part One examines hiring patterns of 15 union joint apprenticeship committees serving the Milwaukee area with report cards provided for 217 contractors with apprentices. Part Two identifies the apprentice levels sponsored by 120 union contractors through the statewide Wisconsin Operating Engineers Joint Apprenticeship Committee. Part Three analyzes the apprenticeship patterns for 81 non-union contractors with apprentices through the Associated Builders & Contractors of WI-Waukesha Joint Apprenticeship Committee. The data are provided to assist the NAACP’s Labor and Industry Committee in its work promoting economic opportunities for African Americans and other minorities in Milwaukee.
