The study was designed to investigate the relative advantages of three supplementary cardiovascular conditioning techniques for amateur wrestling. The three conditioning techniques are: (1) traditional running, (2) wrestling-only, and (3) the "stamina drill" (a series of tumbling mat exercises). The study measured the relative advantages of the three techniques in terms of the development of cardiovascular fitness, dynamic strength, static strength, explosive strength and extent flexibility.en
