Abstract
Over a decade ago, a heavily altered stretch of Crystal Lake’s shoreline was restored by planting thousands of native trees, shrubs, and grasses. Today, that restoration remains intact, offering a rare opportunity to evaluate long-term ecological responses. Our research on Crystal Lake examines how shoreline restoration shapes both land and water by tracking shifts in terrestrial vegetation, aquatic plants, and benthic macroinvertebrates. Come learn how aquatic plants have re-established and how insects like dragonflies and mayflies responded alongside them. This work highlights how shoreline restoration can create lasting improvements in lake ecosystems and demonstrates the value of long-term monitoring and dedication to restoration.
