Description

This thesis consists of 2 technical papers and 1 note describing the analysis of vocalizations and communication patterns of the greater sandhill crane (Grus canadensis tabida) on the Hiawatha National Forest in Upper Michigan, 1978, 1980, 1983 and 1984. The papers are titled: "Individual variation in the unison and guard calls of the greater sandhill crane", and "Regional variation in calls of the greater sandhill crane in the Hiawatha National Forest". The note is: "Sequence of morning unison calls of greater sandhill cranes in dense nest areas". Data recorded but not presented in these papers are provided in the appendices.
