The tradition of ping pong play at a local non-profit, Operation Fresh Start, creates a social identity among its employees.
Recording this ritual portrays the social function of play and games. This is specifically seen through through the ways employees challenge, battle and interact among themselves. In this non-profit setting, young adults challenge each other to a game in order to promote friendships. A potentially competitive act is a group building function.
