Art therapy and other creative modalities have been proven to promote healing for children and adolescents suffering from the effects of grief and loss, as well as providing a vital communications tool that does not necessarily use words. It allows the bereaved child a way to express their thoughts on abstract ideas, process these ideas, and hopefully gain insight. Art provides a safe outlet for the intense feelings and emotions related to grief and pain that ultimately will help them regain a sense of control and hope for empowering futures.en
