Abstract

In her first interview with Troy Reeves on July 21, 2021, Janet McCray-Batzli discusses her background in education and teaching. She details how her interest in science education lead to her current role as director of the Biocore Prairie as well as what that job entails. This interview was conducted for the Academic Staff Award Winners Project and will be housed within the Oral History Collection at UW-Madison Archives. In her follow-up interview with Troy Reeves on July 29, 2021, Janet McCray-Batzli details her experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as how the pandemic affected the way teachers now teach and the ability of students to focus. She also discusses faculty governance guidelines and the role of academic staff in governance on campus. This interview was conducted for the Academic Staff Award Winners Project and will be housed within the Oral History Collection at UW-Madison Archives.
