Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the extent of radiation exposure that is occurring among ABC Institution employees. An absence of a radiation protection program at ABC Institution is placing the organization at risk of employee overexposure, regulatory, and other forms of monetary loss. To obtain the necessary information to achieve the goals of the study facility assessments, x-ray procedure observations, participant interviews, and radiation exposure data was collected. The data collected in this study indicate that employees are not likely at risk for overexposure to radiation however deficiencies were identified in the training and radiation protection programs. Recommendations are provided to ensure adequate employee training and improve the radiation protection program in order to heighten compliance with applicable regulations and minimize the respective employees’ exposure to ionizing radiation.
