Abstract

In his 2012 interview with Sarah Neddo, Gary LaMere talks about his upbringing in mostly conservative spaces, how he moved to Green Bay, and his life experiences with his partner. He discusses the following topics: alcoholism in the gay community; legal and medical rights between he and his partner in death; the bar scene from the 80’s onward; Green Bay’s political and social culture; and his experiences with work and some activism in the area. This interview was conducted for inclusion to the LGBTQ+ Project of the UW-Madison’s Archives and Records Management Oral History Program.
