Abstract

The purpose of this four-year study was to survey questing adult female Ixodes scapularis tick populations from 21 west-central Wisconsin counties for the presence of Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria. This bacterium, which is transmitted by a tick bite, is responsible for Lyme disease in humans and other animals.
