Main Factors Leading to Construction Delays

Abstract

Construction is one of the leading industries in stabilizing an economy. It provides value, increases sustainability, and can be a positive for building and infrastructure improvements. This process is used to increase overall efficiency and improves human health and the environment. There are factors that can affect delays in the industry. These factors include unskilled workers, lack of proper management, and communication. They cause projects to be inefficient and incomplete. This study shows that delay factors in construction prevent maximum productivity, it is not the best use of time and resources. A lack of having a skilled labor force reduces the quality of work performance. Delays in construction can impact financial stability in the economy. Other delay factors that contribute are lack of leadership skills in managing construction projects. This leads to projects that cannot be completed on time. Reduced communication can also affect the workload and the operations that takes place on construction job sites. This study also highlights the limitations on spending if there are minimal construction work. The delays affect revenues that are generated due to construction work. To address construction delays, certain improvements will be addressed as well, for instance, determining the cause of delays and implementing innovative approaches that can enhance construction performance. In summary, this study will show the construction industry can be limited by a lack of communication and management skills. It will also emphasize that construction work along with family spending helps stabilize working communities.
