Rare Bryophyte and Vascular Plant Survey: Diversity within the Devil's Punchbowl, Dunn County, WI

Abstract

Rare plant species provide food production, appreciation, cultural services, community diversity, invasion resistance, and functioning services such as carbon storage, nitrogen fixation, and nutrient cycling (Dee 2019; Wiegand 2020).​ Plants can become rare due to human impacts, edge of range, and evolutionary factors.​ Rare plant surveys are important for the conservation of plant species and natural preserves.​ [The purpose is to] complete a rare plant survey and generate a plant species list, including both vascular plants and bryophytes, for the Devil’s Punchbowl Preserve.
