Abstract

This collection includes correspondence, course materials, photographs, and miscellaneous materials relating to the Packaging Program.

Description

Dr. Marvin Kufahl, a graduate of Stout Institute, joined the faculty in 1956 as an instructor in sheet metal. Prior to his appointment, Kufahl was an assistant instructor in metal working. In 1966, Kufahl was largely responsible for the creation of the packaging concentration at Stout. The idea was originally suggested by a group of Stout graduates who were working in the field of packaging. Early in 1965, a committee from the Minnesota Chapter of the Society of Packaging and Handling Engineers met with personnel of the Department of Industrial Technology to develop such a program. Kufahl was named Packaging Coordinator. He remained in this role until his retirement in 1991.
