Abstract

Dale Bauer (June 14, 1956) was born in Buffalo, NY, and then moved to California in 1967, where she later attended UC-Irvine and studied American literature (BA., MA., Ph.D.). She has taught at Franklin & Marshall College, College of the Holy Cross, Miami University, UW-Madison, and U Kentucky. Now a Professor of English at the University of Illinois, she studies U.S. women’s literature and feminist pedagogy. At UW-Madison, Bauer was joint-appointed with the Women’s Studies Program and English. She also was the Associate Chair of WSP (1992-94) and the Director of the Women’s Studies Research Center (1994-96), where she won a Ford Foundation Grant for the Program. In 1994, she won the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
