Abstract
Real time PCR is used to quantitatively measure the amount of RNA corresponding to our clock and output (clock-controlled) genes present at various times of the day. These amounts tell us the level of expression of specific genes at the corresponding time points and therefore give us a tool to measure and characterize circadian behavior at a particular developmental stage.
