Abstract

The combustion of fossil fuels in order to produce energy is the primary driving force behind global warming. The environmental nonprofit sector is becoming just as important as traditional environmental social movements with regards to addressing this problem. Due to an increasing public awareness of the need to radically transform humanity's social organization so as not to cause irreversible climate change, the energy conservation sector has been steadily growing in recent decades. This study suggests that energy conservation nonprofits have been broadening the scope of their organizational goals in response to the broadening nature of the climate crisis.
