This paper will discuss the differences in symbolism of the boar hunt between the ancient Greeks and the ancient Romans. Using a variety of primary sources, including vase paintings, mosaics and literary accounts from the period, this paper will seek to inform the reader how the mythic accounts of the boar hunt by the Greeks turned into a trophy hunt for the Romans. Besides looking at the two powers, a careful look at royal Macedonian boar hunting culture will seek to “bridge the gap” between the cultural transfer from Greek to Roman.en_US
