| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this project was to investigate the literature concerning the history and contemporary status of Native American education. The intent was to explore the implications of United States government policy toward the effectiveness of educational practices and procedures of Native American students. A review of the literature concluded that educational curricula, methodology, and personnel were inadequate in meeting the needs of Native American students. A collection of suggested activities and resources was compiled for use in the elementary classroom. The activities were designed for teachers to provide Native and non-Native American students with information regarding beliefs and practices of selected Native American groups. | en |
