Abstract

Description

Abstract: In his three February 2008 interviews with Robert Lange, Carl Grant talks about his life and career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from the 1940s to the present. He discusses the profound influence of his parents, teachers, racism within the armed services, and his colleagues upon his development as a teacher and scholar. He also recounts major research projects with which he was associated, such as multicultural education and the national Teachers? Corps Associates Program. He shares his insights from four decades of teaching and research about the department of education, the profession of teaching, the future of the university, and Afro-American studies. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the UW-Madison Oral History Program.
