Abstract
Surveying fishermen is a good way to estimate the population of Lake Sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens)
By electro-fishing you can get a better estimate of the populations of fishes. Sturgeon were over harvest almost to extinction in the early 1900?s and are only now showing signs of rising abundance in population. In 1963 there was a large population of Shovelnose Sturgeon below the dam but when measured again in 1999 only one was found. We feel like Sturgeon are on the rise again based on our surveying and would like to use Electro-fishing survey to determine a better estimate of Sturgeon
