Analysis of hand-related injuries at Company XYZ

Abstract

The increasing number of employees incurring physical harm through hand-related injuries in Company XYZ, a Wisconsin based heating, ventilating, and air conditioning manufacturing company is resulting in severe pain to employees, significant monetary, lost time, and productivity-related losses. The results show a combination of injuries including fractures, sprains, soreness, tears, and pains, of different degrees. Even though the firm has an administration that caters to the safety needs of the workers, distress and uncomfortable working conditions still exist. As such, the history of these injuries could stay the same in the future. The findings have determined that the degree of hand-related injuries is directly proportional to whether or not they are wearing PPE. Hand gloves have been identified as vital types of PPE for the XYZ organization which has many of the workers using their hands. Indeed, most injuries occur at times when the workers are without gloves. Almost half (47%) cited the gloves provided were comfortable as the reason for not wearing them. 24% recognized the gloves were comfortable for use only some of the time. The remaining 29% responded citing discomfort when wearing and using the gloves.
