Government officials and bodies, including Lake Districts, are required by Wisconsin law to comply with Wisconsin’s Open Records laws, including responding to requests by the public for records. So what does that require of the Lake District and its officeholders? Attorney Gulya will walk you through the legal requirements with practical ideas for application including properly handling requests, charging appropriate fees, understanding prohibitions to the release of specific records or information within records, and other issues and requirements to help Lake Districts remain compliant and conduct business consistent with the requirements of the law.
