Oral History Interview: Fay Stephenson (1403)

Abstract

In her November 2014 interview with Kathleen Conti, Fay Stephenson details her life from growing up on Staten Island to attending UW Madison to raising her family. Conti was particularly interested in Stephenson's experiences during the Cold War in Madison--whether there was the Soviet scare that gets describes in textbooks--but Stephenson said that she was so focused on her family and job that she remembers little about fallout shelters and other Cold War details. Stephenson speaks on being the daughter of immigrants and her continuing connections to Sweden. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the UW-Madison Oral History Program.
