Synthesis of national efforts in transportation asset management

Abstract

In the Fall of 2001, the Midwest Regional University Transportation Center (University of Wisconsin, Madison) conducted a survey of national efforts in Transportation Asset Management. The organizations and efforts described herein are for illustrative purposes only and the survey was not intended to be comprehensive. The results show a wide breadth of interest and research in the area of transportation infrastructure management, which is generally not apparent to many who are new to this field. Therefore, the report is intended to target a general audience that is interested in Asset Management and how various organizations are approaching the concept. Transportation professionals, officials, and researchers who are relatively unfamiliar with this area of infrastructure management may find this report helpful by introducing them to various past and present efforts.
