Abstract

Anxiety has shown strong associations with suicidal ideation and attempts; yet many who experience anxiety do not develop suicidal ideation. A factor that may impact this relationship is body regard. Low body regard is shown to increase risk of suicide due to lack of self-protection. Negative body image is associate with anxiety and suicidal behaviors. The purpose of our study was to integrate this research. We hypothesized body regard would significantly moderate the relationship between anxiety and suicidal ideation.
