Abstract

Born digital interviews and transcripts discussing LGBTQIA+ topics like personal experiences, campus community, controversies, queer artists, resources and support, and the impact of COVID-19.

Description

Students enrolled in Doctor Rickie-Ann Legleitner’s WGS 205: Introduction to Queer Studies are presented with this assignment at the beginning of the semester. Students work in groups to determine the focus of the interview through research, develop open- ended questions, connect with interviewees, complete necessary forms, record and transcribe the interview, and write a final paper. The purpose of the project is to collect LGBTQIA+ oral histories for the UW-Stout Archives and Area Research Center in order to help build the collective sense of queer history and legacies at the university.
