Abstract
This study was initiated to develop information upon which to base management of the Bad River
Tribal Fishery Resources. The major objective of our effort was to assess the walleye stock in the
Kakagon River and the importance of the Bad River Tribal Hatchery operation to sustained walleye
abundance. This study was also to provide technical assistance to the hatchery during the 1982 season and recommendations relevant to future operation of the fry hatchery. Basic information important to the development of fingerling walleye production
facilities was also to be accumulated. ·
The work represents a cooperative effort between the University of Wisconsin-Extension; which
provided staff time support, the University of Wisconsin-Superior; which provided-much of the
technical equipment and the Bad River Tribal Council; which provided support for other personnel,
travel costs and supplies.
The three sections of this report titled: stock assessment, technical assistance and, management
recommendations, describe the work performed and related conclusions.
