Abstract

Unlike the semi-protected harbor located in the Duluth and Superior area, the Ashland Harbor lies open to Lake Superior. Geographically it is sited on the southeast border of Chequamegon Bay, a natural embayment wedged between the northeasterly trending Apostle Island and Keweenawan peninsulas.
