| dc.description.abstract | This action research project was based on a constructivist theoretical model. Constructivism is an approach to teaching and learning founded on the idea that cognition (learning) is the result of "mental construction." In other words, students learn by assimilating new information with what they already know. Constructivists believe that learning is affected by the context in which an idea is taught as well as by students' beliefs and attitudes. In this study we utilized an action research model in which we planned, implemented, reviewed, and revised our teaching methods in order to positively impact literacy instruction of Middle School students. | en |
