Abstract
Video self-modeling (VSM) is an observational learning technique in which an individual view themselves on video and focuses on a target behavior. In other areas of speech-language pathology such as autism, fluency, and accent modification, VSM has been used as an effective treatment to alter a specific behavior. Other disciplines that have utilized video self-modeling to improve behaviors or skills include academics, sports, counseling services, and rehabilitation. Many individuals with voice disorders may master a targeted therapy technique, such as resonant voice, within the context of a therapy session, those skills often do not generalize easily to other more functional settings. The present study investigated the effectiveness of VSM as an at-home intervention tool for individuals with voice disorders and the impact of VSM on perceptual, objective, and self-perceived vocal quality.
