Education has been changing and evolving over time. There have been different initiatives over the years that have come and gone. The way teachers teach has become very different from that of even twenty years ago. There have been major changes in technology and the way students expect to learn. It was not uncommon twenty years ago to have a large amount of lecture going on throughout a school. Over the past twenty years, classrooms have been transformed into more of an interactive environment. There has been a major shift into engaging students in their education. This project focuses on how the amount of student engagement correlates with student achievement in the classroom as part of the Educator Effectiveness in the classroom. It also utilizes different methods and strategies to engage students and explains the new strategies and final evaluations of the strategies. Finally, it shows the differences between engagement in lessons that used preplanned student engagement strategies and those lessons that have been taught with no special attention to student engagement strategies and compares student achievement of those lessons. The project give details on the steps to go about engaging students in the classroom including asking the students what engages them, finding new strategies, measuring engagement within the classroom setting, and reflecting on the engagement changes in the classroom. This project could be the basis for more research in measuring student engagement and developing more engaging lessons in the classroom.en
