Description
Murphy talks about his early life on Langdon Street and about UW at turn of century. He talks about his undergraduate studies in the History Department, mentions the Experimental College and Alexander Meiklejohn. He talks about his involvement with the Daily Cardinal, and Phi Beta Kappa. He mentions changes to campus such as Union Theater and the State Historical Society, talks about student life regarding sports, religion, and minority groups and discrimination. Murphy talks about notable campus figures such as Dean of men Scott Goodnight and President Glenn Frank. He talks about his time in Law School, his involvement in the State Historical Society and the Wisconsin History Foundation as well as past, present and future challenges for Historical Society. He ends by speaking about his time teaching in Law School, various Law School deans, and his honorary degree.
