Description

Abstract: Abraham Vang has been a ginseng farmer since 1997 and currently holds a spot on the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin. In this interview, Vang discusses his life story from his childhood in Laos, his struggle as a Cold War refugee adapting to American life, and finding success with ginseng farming in Wisconsin. He discusses how the Hmong culture and tradition enhances his relationship with his community and farming. He also discusses his personal benefits of ginseng and his relationship with other farmers in Wisconsin. This interview was conducted as part of the Wisconsin Farms Oral History Project, a collaboration of Dr. James A. Levy (UW-Whitewater) Dr. Jasmine Alinder (UW-Milwaukee), and Dr. Troy J. Reeves (UW-Madison).
