Abstract
The integrated project delivery (IPD) has emerged as a revolutionary contract model for the construction industry and continues to change the process of how to deliver a successful project. Industry leaders are constantly looking to develop and implement news means and methods that improve their employees work environment and give them a competitive advantage. The concept of IPD is to have a project team consisting of contractors and design professionals working together towards a common goal. The key to any successful construction project is coordination and effective communication between all affiliated parties. IPD will improve both communication and coordination when there is a full investment from the complete project team. This delivery model also encourages the use of lean project management principles to reduce wasted time as well as innovative technological systems to assist on unique and detailed infrastructure projects.
