Woman Who Gathers Sticks

Abstract

Description

This project documents the nature based art of Wisconsin artist, Lindy Wilson. The project includes an audio interview, still photographs and a 17 minute video. The video includes Lindy's own narrative relating to her family's heritage, her early childhood experiences with nature, her views, vision and beliefs relating to her art, and making rustic art. The video also includes numerous still images as well as live footage of her nature-based, rustic artworks. The audio interview focuses on Lindy's childhood background and her early experiences interfacing with art and nature, her careers as an artist, mother, and art teacher, the building of the "Stick House," and her personal vision that compelled her to become a rustic, nature-based artist. At the end of the audio interview, she talks about learning from author and rustic furniture maker, Dan Mack and her ongoing participation in the annual Woodlanders Gathering workshop in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, led by Mack. Most of the still photograph files are images of LIndy's artwork, all of which were photographed in and around her home.
