Interveiw with Orazio Fumagalli

Abstract

Tape recorded interview with Orazio Fumagalli conducted in Menomonie, Wisconsin in 1987 by Gayle Martinson. Fumagalli was born in Italy in 1922 and later grew up in New York City after his family emigrated to the United States. He graduated from high school and later enrolled in City College of New York. During World War II, Fumagalli served in the Coast Guard. Following the war, he studied art at the University of Iowa and in Italy. After completing his Ph.D., he worked at Duluth before coming to Stout in 1964. While at Stout, he created the Art Department and was its chair until 1978. He retired in 1986.
