dc.descriptionIn their November 1985 interview with Laura Smail, Elizabeth ?Betty? and James Miller reminisce about their over fourty years of ground-breaking research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison?s McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research from the 1940s to the 1980s. Both Betty and James recount briefly what attracted them initially to science, where they received their undergraduate training and how they met and collaborated in the biochemistry department at UW. They offer their perspectives on major personalities in biochemistry and at McArdle and outlined the major advances their research had made possible. Further, Betty talks about changes in the climate for women on UW?s campus from the 1940s to today. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the UW-Madison Oral History Program.en
