Abstract

This study examines the human impact in the form of soil compaction and its effect on species richness in and around campsites in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness of Northern Minnesota. Our research hopes to provide insight on the effects humans have on areas designated for wilderness conservation. A soil penetrometer was used to gauge soil compaction in and around campsites.
