| dc.description.abstract | This paper looks into the lives of three ordinary women, women who traveled to Wisconsin to start a new life, leaving the comforts of home behind. The new lives found by these women included pain and hardship, and still they found the strength to carry on. The women in this paper, Lucy Ann Hastings, Sarah Pratt and Ann Eliza Bacon Porter, represent women pioneers all over Wisconsin. This research helps fill a major gap in the history of Wisconsin, which is a detailed understanding of how different types of women from different backgrounds lived in Wisconsin. | en |
