Abstract

The Lower Chippewa River Valley in West Central Wisconsin provides a wealth of habitat for a variety of fish and wildlife species and supports a significant amount of agricultural land and recreational activities. Despite the importance of the Lower Chippewa River and its surrounding habitat, relatively little is known about the landscape dynamics of this system. The objective of this project is to contribute to a better understanding of the dynamics of the Lower Chippewa River and its immediate watershed by mapping changes in land use land cover with emphasis on vegetation cover.
