Abstract
Pine Lake, a deep, clear water lake in northwestern Wisconsin had remained relatively undisturbed since European settlement in the 1800s. Because of current land use activity pressures on lakes, we began a long-term study to examine the macrophytes (including mosses and
algae) of Pine Lake. Macrophytes are commonly used as indicators of water quality in lakes.
