| dc.description.abstract | Previous research has shown an increase in dopamine (DA) functioning following chronic, intermittent sucrose consumption. McElroy (1989) was able to train rats to discriminate haloperidol (HAL; a D2 antagonist; 0.05 mg/kg i.p.) in a mean of 45 training sessions. This discrimination was established without chronic sucrose consumption. Since chronic, intermittent sucrose consumption increases DA function, we were led to believe that the consumption could cause the discrimination to be acquired more quickly. | en_US |
